Ceremony

Students will be led by a bagpiper through the Robert E. Taylor Gates. The Gates open twice a year; once at the beginning of Wildcat Welcome and again at Commencement, marking both the beginning and the end of a student’s academic career at Johnson & Wales University - Denver.

During the Gate Ceremony, students will process from the Academic Center, through the Robert E. Taylor Gates, and will conclude the processional at the Wildcat Statue. Students will then proceed to the Academic Center immediately following the ceremony to be welcomed into academic life at JWU Denver.

This is an outdoor ceremony. Business-casual attire is recommended. Accessibility requests will be taken via email.


Students

Students, please arrive to the lobby of the Academic Center no later than 9:45am. Additional instructions will be given upon your arrival.


Parents & Guests

Parents and guests, after your student has arrived to the Academic Center at 9:45am, please make your way to the Coors Family Commons at the center of campus to attend this beloved tradition. The ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00am.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, students will gather near the the Wildcat Statue to take a class photo. Please refrain from taking photos with your student until after official university photos have been taken.

Following the Gate Ceremony, students will transition to their academic orientations. At this time, families and guests are encouraged to say good-bye to their students as their time as JWU Wildcats officially begins!
