Academic Calendar, Books & Classes
Classes start on Monday, September 9, 2019. Review the full academic calendar carefully and plan accordingly for class meeting days, holidays & breaks. Students are also expected to know and adhere to class attendance policies. Please log into link.jwu.edu often to check for holds & announcements.
To get your class schedule and a listing of required books:
Log into jwuLink, and go to the Academics page
Click View Course Schedule (under the Course Registration & Schedule section)
Click the Schedule Details tab in the lower panel
Click on each course title, then select Bookstore Links
You can also enter your J# to get a listing of required books when visiting the online bookstore. You have the option of rent or purchasing your books online or in person at the Downcity or Harborside bookstores (go to the location where your classes are held).
Baking & Pastry Arts and Culinary Arts Students:
You must report to laboratory classes in full uniform and remain in full uniform at all times until leaving the premise. Students not in full uniform will not be admitted into class. All components of the uniform are expected to be clean and pressed. Review detailed uniform policies. If you did not get a uniform during summer orientation, pick yours up during opening weekend at the Harborside Bookstore (scroll down to Welcome Weekend Office Hours for bookstore hours).
Tool Kit & Text Book Distribution will take place on Sunday, 9/8/2019, from noon to 2pm in the atrium of the Cuisinart Center for Culinary Excellence.
Students can bank at any institution of their choice. The following banks, listed as a convenience, have full-service locations in the Downcity area: Bank of America, Bank Newport, Bank Rhode Island, Citizens Bank (Citizens ATMs are located on-campus in the Xavier Academic Complex and Harborside Academic Center), Santander, and Washington Trust.
Many retailers provide a discount to college students, typically after showing a student ID. The following attractions & stores are just a few who have provided discounts in the past: Alex and Ani, Amazon, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Francesca’s, Geoff’s Sandwiches, H&M, J. Crew, Providence Place Cinema 16 and IMAX, Providence Performing Arts Center (Broadway shows), RISD Museum, and Sajo’s Gourmet Pizzeria.
